Camisole

This “corset cover” is basically a camisole.   2 front pieces, a back and a peplum.

Since it is a bodice piece, real issues with fitting.  And these pieces are for a petite person.   I am using muslin, although the pattern says fabrics to consider:  wool (would not use), silk (would be lovely for underneath something dressy), linen ( a piece of hankerchief linen would work) or cotton (which is what I would make the actual garment out of).   Once the main pattern pieces are put together, there is much lace to apply.  I do not think most fabric stores have a large selection of laces as they would have had back a hundred years ago.

I would consider making this with several pintucks in the front for better fitting as well as making a more interesting garment.  Also I would consider crocheting the lace around the armholes and neckline, rather than trying to apply lace on those curves.

Overall this was not a very complicated pattern to work with and probably could be done by hand if one so chose if working with some exotic fabric.   I think we are too used to knitted wear for most of our undergarments now and that is what I might consider using if I were to make this pattern for someone else.
