I work at a university, so I was hoping they’d have permanent access to the fabulous Vogue Archive referenced earlier on Facebook. Alas…..
However, they DID have one hard copy of the May 1912 Vogue, which, to my astonishment, could be checked out for the long weekend. Here are a few highlights.
Let me know if you want more details or closer shots. It goes back to the library on Tuesday morning.

What a wonderful find! Is there any way that you could scan the whole thing as a .pdf? Or at least scan the few pages you’ve already photographed so that you can read the whole article that goes with them?
Thank you so much for the period pictures. Wow is all I can say–it gives a “feel” for the period. The details are so very interesting. If you can share more (timewise) I, too would be interested.
I love this idea. By my house is the Library of Congress. I’ve photocopied quite a few vintage publications. I have most of them in my sewing den on the bulletin board! If you are close to Washington you can go to the Library of Congress and ask for them to bring you any publication of any year you want!
Thanks so much for sharing these – the pictures provide a great reference!
Thanks so much for a great reference the more the better. Not too many though my head is almost bursting now!
Wow. Thanks for sharing these. I’d love to see more if you feel like snagging more images. That’s a heck of an opening down the entire front of that French Linen “Street Frock.” Interesting how trends reappear over time. We’d see that kind of opening (on the skirt anyway) in the 30s.
